The keyboard can be used in ANY app installed on your iPhone or iPad. It is shipped with a standalone app that allows you to enter a transcription of a piece of text and share it with friends or colleagues or send it to Evernote.
You might also want to try a separate app which contains all symbols necessary for phonemic transcription of English.
The symbol set has been based on two popular pronunciation dictionaries as well as research.
